Cancer risks by transplant type

Transplant recipients have a higher chance of cancer in general, including these cancers:

  • Skin cancer 

  • Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) 

  • Virus-linked cancers 

In addition, certain transplant types have a higher chance of certain cancers. For example, liver transplant recipients have a higher chance of liver cancer after their transplant.
