Kidney cancer
Kidney cancer (or renal cancer) is cancer that starts in your kidneys. Your kidneys are 2 bean-shaped organs that filter your blood to remove extra water, salt, and waste products. Your kidneys turn waste into urine.

Different types of kidney cancers can act differently and may need different treatments.
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common type of kidney cancer. There are 2 main subtypes of RCC:
-
Clear cell RCC – This is the most common type of RCC. It is called clear cell because the cancer cells look very pale or clear under a microscope.
-
Non-clear cell RCC – This includes other types of RCC that are not clear cell.
