Pgm #97: Skin Cancer in Transplant Patients

October 18, 2018
Dr. Kelly MacArthur
board certified dermatologist at Penn's Dermatology Dept

Kelly will share her passion for cancer research, applying her current work with the Penn Medicine dermatology team to apply it to the post-transplant population with their higher risk for skin cancers.

She is passionate about patient care and community outreach.  She is active in national dermatology organizations, serving as the representative on the ASDS Board of Directors and as a member of the Regulatory Policy Committee for the American Academy of Dermatology.

While her research studies initially focused on more advanced stages of cancer pathobiology, her clinical and research interests evolved toward cutaneous malignancies and early-stage, curative disease. During residency, she researched the role of a specific topical agent in cutaneous T cell lymphoma.  More recently, she investigated the utility and costs of routine permanent section analysis of redundant tissue from coordinated closure following Mohs surgery and found that this practice did not change the overall assessment of surgical margin.
