Chris Schimpf, a Hospital Services Coordinator for Gift of Life Donor Program in Philadelphia, offers detailed insights into both donation by cardiac death and explain the process of determining brain death in organ donor patients.

This talk was given to volunteer speakers who often face deep concern and questions from their audiences when speaking about organ donation. Christopher is a Hospital Services Coordinator for Gift of Life Donor Program. He is the primary Gift of Life liaison for hospitals in Delaware, and is responsible for providing education on each aspect of the donation process to physicians, nurses, and all other members of the potential donor patient’s care team. Chris was invited to present at the 2012 national meeting of the North American Transplant Coordinator’s Organization, speaking about the processes developed collaboratively between Gift of Life Donor Program and Christiana Care Health System. He has also spoken at events sponsored by the American Nephrology Nurses Association, Delaware Organization of Nurse Leaders, Delaware Academy of Medicine, and Bayhealth Medical Center.
