Received August 7, 2019:
Introducing Pati Hughes-Fudge, President of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of Transplant Recipients International Organization
Pati is a member of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of TRIO since 2015 and received her liver transplant at Stanford on September 27, 2015.
Family: Married, 2 children, 5 grandchildren
Career: Spent the majority of my life raising and training horses, and was a licensed International Horse Show Judge for the past 30 years. Also was a Practical Nurse, and Financial Advisor for short periods of time when the horse business was lagging!
Transplant: Diagnosed with Hep C and cirrhosis 2000. Listed for transplant in 2010 and developed cancer in 2013. I was treated in 2014 with Solvaldi and Olysio and cleared the Hep C virus, which is still undetectable. After 5 "calls", I received my Liver 9/27/2015, from a 14 year old young man. (my Grandson was 14 at the time)
Competed in the 2016 Games and earned medals in Swimming and Track, and again in 2018 receiving 10 medals in Swimming and Track.
I'm a Lead Ambassador for Donor Network West (since 2010) speaking to many groups and at events, educating people about Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation.
Participated in the Liver Recipient Focus Group for TRIO in Chicago 2017
I am passionate about making people aware of the importance of Organ Donation and the miracle I get to enjoy every day!
Note: Pati was elected to the TRIO national board February 2019
