Harriet underwent a liver transplant at UCLA on April 23, 2003. The etiology of that liver failure had never been established but she was in acute liver failure. Diagnosed in March, she was hospitalized at UCLA fulling expecting to recover, ended up in Intensive Care where she got that gift of life. Working as an Programmer/Analyst for a major health insurance company, leading a very active lifestyle, Harriet had fully expected to return to work post-transplant but that was not to be. Now retired, an avid bridge player, volunteering at the local Adult School, tutoring in English as a second language, Harriet enjoys her two young grandchildren, ages 3 and 7, and tries to spend as much time as possible with them. Harriet has been volunteering with TRIO for the past couple of years checking the validity and updating the over 700 website links on the TRIO links pages.
