TRIO Chapter Activity Report

Ventura Chapter - January 2010

This has been a difficult last four months for our Chapter.  One Board member resigned due to illness and another two Board members are on a leave of absence due to serious illness.  Due to these circumstances, the Board decided to hold meetings once a month with the Board meeting being held prior to the speaker/general meeting.   The meetings will be held the third Friday of the month.

ELECTIONS - We held elections in January and the new members are:

President:          Pat Beeman
Vice-President:  Shirley Pirozzi
Secretary:          Pamela Endo
Treasurer:          Don George

MEMBERS - We have 86 active members and 34 members paid National dues.

DECEMBER – The annual Christmas party with a potluck dinner was held on December 5th with a white elephant gift exchange which is always enjoyed by everyone.

Fourteen of our members decorated the Donate Life float in Pasadena.  This is always a rewarding experience as you meet many donor families as well as recipients.  We are proud that for the third consecutive year, Donate Life was among the Rose Parade float award winners.

JANUARY – Our monthly meeting was held on January 15th with the intent of viewing “Physician as Transplant Patient” but due to technical difficulties we were unable to view the CD.  We held a support meeting instead and were able to discuss TRIO with 3 new attendees, one gentleman had recently received a liver at USC and another 75 year old man needed a kidney.  He had been turned down by UCLA.

FEBRUARY – The California School Nurses Convention will be held in Hollywood from February 11-14.  Several members will attend the event to assist at the Donate Life Table.
