TRIO Chapter Activity Report
Nation's Capital Area Chapter - December 2011
Dear TRIO
Members
Last
Saturday, December 10th, a brisk, but sunny day, a
lively group of TRIO members met at Claude Brady’s
home to celebrate the Holiday Season.
While the
group was assembled, a short business meeting was
held. We
welcomed a special guest, Sylvia Leach, Executive
Director of TRIO National, who lives just down the
road in Gainesville, VA. Our members know you through
Lifelines as you know us through the NCAC
membership list. Thank
you for joining us. You are always welcome!
Yes, Linda
Cheatham was in town for a few days and we were
all delighted to see her once again! She is well
and so grateful to enjoy good health. She is now
near her family who needs her help to oversee and
nurse them to better health.
Lisa
Colaianni, Donor Family Advocate with WRTC,
quietly but proudly, announced that she has a new
title, Living
Organ Donor. Weeks ago,
she donated a kidney to an unknown recipient. She has
recovered from the surgery and is doing well. An unselfish
act of kindness, Lisa, you made a miracle and a
huge difference in the quality of life of a very
sick person and the recipient’s family. You ROCK,
Lisa, and we are most proud of you.
Nominations
for TRIO-NCAC officers were held, the following
were elected:
Co-president Mike Garrett
and Trudi Anderson
Vice
President Jim Weaver
Treasurer Claude Brady
The office
of Secretary remains open. It was
recommended by the members that the Board select
the secretary. Sarah
Whiddon, Claude’s granddaughter, volunteered to
help the secretary.
In my last letter to you, I wrote that we
would like to receive your input or suggestions of
what you would like to see scheduled or planned in
2012. Last Saturday several suggestions for topics
for future meetings were presented. We appreciate
that you are giving this serious thought however.
we would like to hear from more members You can
contact me directly by phone (703-532-3223) or

A Michael
Aram ‘Olive Branch” Cheeseboard was presented to
Linda for her many dedicated years of serving on
TRIO National Board as well as President of TRIO-
NCAC. . The Kansas
City TRIO Chapter will be well served now that you
have joined them.
Linda, we wish you only the best.
A gift basket was presented to Claude
for opening his home to us. Thank you,
Claude, for being a very gracious host. It was my
pleasure to be among the guests on Saturday.
A gentle reminder to send membership
dues to P.O. Box 7633, Arlington,VA 22207. A special
thank you to those whose checks we have received. TRIO-NCAC is
