TRIO Chapter Activity Report

Texas Panhandle Chapter - April 2007

The Texas Panhandle Chapter remains active, meeting monthly at Amarillo. We expect regular meeting participation to grow this year to 10 - 15.

Since the last report, we have participated with the annual Saturn Donor Days at Amarillo, and we had great participation with the Mythical Ball invitation fund raiser. We were not able to organize any April Organ Donation Awareness activities either on our own or with LifeGift, but still hold hope to work with LifeGift on continued awareness projects and we will now begin planning for Donor Sabbath activities this November. We still do not receive much support from LifeGift; but we do usually have at least one of their coordinators from the Amarillo office attend our meetings. LifeGift’s corporate office (CEO) has declined membership, but their Communications Director told me they would recommend to each of their regional directors to join and encourage staff to join TRIO. We’ve not yet seen much result from that as yet.

During the last Chapter President’s call, it was mentioned (I think by Ron Taubman?) that the AOPO has expressed support for TRIO and would work to encourage the regional OPO’s to support the local TRIO chapters. Perhaps this needs to be discussed more at the upcoming Board of Director’s Meeting?

Warmest regards,
