TRIO Chapter Activity Report

Greater Cleveland Chapter - January 2007

On October 26, we had representatives from Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy talk to about 20 members regarding medication side effects and preventative care.  Questions and concerns were discussed in an open forum.

We held our annual Donor Sabbath on Saturday, November 11 at the Old Stone Church.  We had approximately 35 people attend.  Thanks to Dorene Kray and Jeanine Carroll for all of their hard work.

Our annual After Holiday Party was held on Sunday, January 21 and again we had about 35 participants.  Everyone enjoyed a nice home-style meal at Sterle’s Slovenian Country House.  It was a nice chance for everyone to catch up with old friends.  During the party, we presented a certificate to Brent Axthelm’s parents (he was away at college).  He is a recipient of a TRIO Scholarship for this year.  Brent’s parents gave us an update on his activities and scholastic achievements at school.  Thank you to all who joined us and to Mike Wojtowicz for organizing the event.

Once again, we sold Entertainment books for a fundraiser and did quite well.  Thanks to Cathy Grenig for all of her hard work and organization.

Our plans for 2007 include at least one educational seminar, our annual Night at the Races, and an Annual Meeting in the summer.  We hope to also have other “Dines Out” events with speakers throughout the year.

A call for nominations has been sent out for Board of Directors for a May election.
