Note from a transplant nurse in Canada. . .

  heart of roses

Hello,

I was privileged to be one of the nurses who was in attendance at lunch at the ITNS meeting in St. Louis – the lunch where Mr. Green spoke, and then transplant recipients presented copies of Mr. Green’s book to transplant nurses.

I wanted to let you know that I was very moved by my experience at lunch that day.  Mr. Green was a phenomenal speaker, and I found his presentation thought-provoking and very meaningful.

The presentation to me – by a transplant recipient - of Mr. Green’s book, with a letter from a transplant recipient tucked inside, was incredible.

I could not have been more deeply touched than I was that day.  I have recently had a particularly difficult experience in my position as a transplant coordinator, and have been struggling personally in the aftermath of that situation.  I can honestly say that the book presentation that day truly helped me to remind myself once again of the goodness that comes from organ donation and transplantation.

Thank-you from the bottom of my heart.  I also want to thank all transplant recipients who took the time to write a letter for inclusion in the books – those personal letters are very meaningful.  Although it came from a complete stranger, I will always treasure the letter that I received.

Very sincerely,

Debbie Doucette RN
